Jan was the closest thing to a Grandfather that I ever had. I knew him my entire life, and it's a great pleasure to be able to say that because I learned from an amazing man. He was one of the best gentlemen I've ever known. Honest, intelligent, caring, witty, and one of the best card players I'll ever know. Life won't be the same without him. It's still not really settled in that he's not there anymore, and I doubt it ever will. It's hard to have a sense of perspective at a time like this, but I think this quotation sums it up the best - "How lucky am I to have had something that makes saying goodbye so hard?"
